Originally from the Peoples Republic of West Yorkshire, but now living in Christchurch, NZ.
My background in IT starts all the way back when I was 5, my mum returned to University to complete a degree in business computing. Due to family circumstances I would often join her in the punch card room while she tapped out COBOL, this also gave me the opportunity to become fascinated with the mainframe that ran said code. Because of this we ended up being a household with a PC, when most others would have an Amiga or AtariST.
Skipping forwards via a degree not in computer science, I was introduced to Linux (v1.3 era) during a summer flatting with a couple of goths. This then kickstarted a career starting in Application Support, which lead onto Systems Administration, and Cloud Engineering/SRE/DevOps.
